So i know everyone has different Taste's so Post up some of your Threads here to different type's which you all like!

call me a dinosaur but i like the older rock bands like zep and floyd,,and bein a guitarist my self its gotta be jimi hendrix and clapton with a huge dose of rory gallagher,,but the most criminally under rated guitarist of all time was a guy called roy buchanan ..check him out ..

i get inspiration from listenin to the delta blues guys like robert johnson howlin wolf tampa red ,and the chicago blues men like bbking and muddy waters ..and vocally theres no wholl ever touch bessie smith and ma rainy

maybe when the site is more active we can start adding some differnet forums for rock ect

that would be well kool because music is such a diverse field im sure we can all learn something from each other

i think that rock and blues and rap and reggae and all musical styles can learn a lot from each other..

not sure about country music tho irish lol..altho johnny cash was pretty good

its sad that new age rock doest even compare to old skool stuff like deep purple,acdc,zep ,sabbath,ufo and oder gr8 bands

I dont think rock and roll is dead but it will neva be like it was in the old days! even now when u turn tv on and u see rock music ur thinking that does not even come close to comparing to Zep Or Deep Purple , ect

maybe its something to do with technology ,,the great bands didnt have computers and stuff ,,so thy had to make the guitars work nowadays its all done at the flik ova switch

there is a lot of work that goes in to lyrics G not just a flik of a switch

i know that irish im on about the musical side of things like chord structuers and melody,,redman did u mention ufo,,crikey they were a fukin great band with michael schenker

i actually use computer programs to create some music, also use the studio, which i used to prefer, but im gettin better at the whole, making tunes on the computer, its actually harder than it looks/sounds.

ROCK IS NOT DEAD!! Just check out how many rock covers bands are doin the rounds in pubs these days. Here in Lancashire we have the likes of Fag Ash Lil, Riff Raff, Ride On, Backwater Blues, Boneyard Dogs, n many others, all with class guitarists, and coverin songs by the likes of AC/DC, Lizzy, Whitesnake, Free, Tull, Zep, Alex Harvey Band, Purple.

Hey Redman, the funny thing, the most popular covers are by AC/DC over here, in fact there are several covers/tribute bands that just do AC/DC and nowt else

You're right Redman, all the new rock bands do nothing for me, although there are some young talented lads round here doing blues and stuff like rory gallagher n hendrix comin up. A band called Tantrum, average age 20, have made 40+ year old guitarists we know hang their heads in shame/disbelief. Where I live we have a national blues festival every Easter, 4 days of solid rock and blues, 90% of it free in local pubs. Haven!!!

Best current rock band for me are Mostly Autumn, a folky rock mix of styles very Floyd, Tull, with most amazing gorgeous girls singing as well! If you have never heard of them, just google the name, you will not be disappointed if you like quality sound rock music.

Funny thing is, we see all the college kids around, they're wearing Zep and Maiden t-shirts, and forming bands all over the place, none of em follow the crap they're being force fed on the main stream radio and tv

What is it like your way in NZ?

ive been to the burnley blues fest alot of times ,,and every yeasr there is some amazing young talented kids who really know there stuffall listenin to the greats clapton,rory,hedrix et al..which makes me feel that because rock iant heard that much on mainstream, radio the future looks pretty good
